Donation and transplantation of organs, tissues and cells

In 2023 our group had an active role on 4 innovation and strategic projects aimed to develop new techniques: 1. concluding inclusion phase a multicentre study aimed to evaluate the effect of preoperative Statin treatment on the incidence of primary graft dysfunction in lung transplant recipients(AES/ISCIII PI19/01660); 2. enrolment phase of a multicentre study to assess the role of the mechanical insufflation-exsufflation (MI-E) as part of the maintenance of the deceased organ donor in the increase of the pool of available lungs for transplantation(AP176932021); 3. 3DLiver project (CPP2021-008633) aims to obtain 3D liver models as innovative ready-to-use kits for drug testing, focusing on Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion and Toxicity (ADMETox); 4.MPS-LOC(PLEC2022-009481) aims to develop Liver-on-chip systems that combine microfluidics, 3D printing, human-derived liver cells and bio-inks with the final goal to replace the use of animal models for drug discovery.
