Microbiome Research

Dr. Manichanh, with 21 years of experience, leads a research team with diverse expertise in microbiome and IBD research, focusing on linking diet with the microbiome. The team’s competencies align well with the project goals, ensuring a comprehensive approach. Members of the group bring expertise in cell cultures, IBD, bioinformatics, and metagenomic data analysis. The team’s research aims to develop microbiome signatures for diagnosing and predicting IBD outcomes. Projects led by Dr. Manichanh include large-scale microbiome analyses in health and IBD patients, validating bacterial signatures, and exploring the impact of diet on the microbiota in healthy individuals. Collaborations with experts like Dr. d’Enfert (Scientific director of Pasteur Institute) on fungal research further enrich the team’s scope. Notably, citizen involvement is integral to the project’s success, with over 1000 participants from across Spain contributing to advancing knowledge on diet and health.
