The Research Group of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has developed and validating technological instruments, using smartphone technology and virtual reality system, for improving the physical activity levels and/or rehabilitation process of chronic spinal cord injured, COPD or hemiparetic stroke patients. For the other hand, the group carries out different pharmacological studies in patients with acute traumatic spinal cord injury; specifically, we led a multicentre clinical trial with stem mesenchymal cells and monoclonal antibody treatment. Furthermore, we have been working in the research of biomarkers to monitor and predict stroke recovery in patients undergoing intensive rehabilitation. Finally, the group has managed to establish different lines of research from the field of rehabilitation with a view to increasing the number of PhD students and the quality and quantity of scientific production of the group.
